What your data export contains

Choose catch CSV, partial JSON or a verified journal archive according to what you need to inspect or recover.

Download an export

Open Profile, find Data Management and choose CSV or JSON in Export Your Data. Export needs a network connection to fetch saved records. Wait for completion; if it fails, check the connection and retry.

  1. Choose CSV for catch rows you want to inspect in a spreadsheet.
  2. Choose JSON for the exported catch, spot, achievement and profile fields.
  3. Open the downloaded file and check counts and a few records against your journal. Store it somewhere private.

Included and excluded

CSV includes catch details such as dates, species, size, coordinates where resolved, fly/lure, selected conditions, notes and photo URLs. JSON includes selected catch fields, spots, unlocked achievements and basic profile information.

These files are not a complete recoverable account archive. They omit trip/roster relationships, full attribution and original audio/media files. Photo URLs are references, not a downloaded photo collection. An expiring link is not a permanent copy.

Choose the recoverable archive

CSV and partial JSON are separate from Journal archive and recovery in Profile. Use Create journal archive for a private .fishfish file containing supported catches, trips, attribution, spots, written reports and included original media. Unsaved work, account settings, billing and social records are excluded. Never publish an export containing precise fishing locations or client details.

Preview recovery safely

Keep your downloaded file in private storage. Upload archive for recovery preview validates its format, relationships and included media before showing counts. Recovery requires an empty journal and pauses journal edits while it runs.

Review the preview and select its confirmation checkbox before Restore this journal. Retry or resume an interrupted job. Cancelling keeps records already restored; another recovery still needs an empty journal. Downloads expire after five minutes, and uploaded files/jobs after seven days; retain the actual downloaded file.

Current limits are 1,000 records, 150 media files, 25 MiB per media file, 32 MiB total media and a 64 MiB archive. A failed or oversized export is not a verified backup.
