Fish Fish and Anglers’ Log: customization and portability

Choose around the fishing record you want to keep. This is a comparison of documented workflows, not an accuracy or reliability test.

When Anglers’ Log is worth a look

Anglers’ Log documents configurable catches and trips, reusable baits, species and fishing spots, statistics, photos and CSV output. Its developer’s store history includes skunked trips and backup/restore work. A configurable manual journal can be a good fit when the fields and recovery workflow matter more than a spoken recap.

Where Fish Fish fits

Fish Fish provides a browser-based journal with editable voice extraction, manual catches, saved conditions and personal history views. It can queue work on the device, while AI processing needs connectivity. Photo suggestions are rollout- and account-dependent. Check the linked help for current limits; this comparison does not announce planned features.

Questions the documentation does not settle

CSV output and restorable backups are different mechanisms; the developer notes CSV cannot be imported. Verify current platform-specific backup steps, network requirements and included media. Fish Fish’s CSV and partial JSON do not restore an account; its separate verified .fishfish archive supports recovery into an empty journal within documented record/media limits.

An undocumented feature is not necessarily absent. Published vendor claims are not independently tested results. Offers, regional availability and account permissions can change; verify the current checkout and relevant policy before choosing.

Try this before moving your journal

Create a fictional custom field, trip and catch, export CSV, then separately test backup and restore into a clean test journal. Check coordinates, custom values and photo relationships after recovery.

Keep your originals until you have checked retrieval and any export or recovery path. Use synthetic records for a trial; private trips and exact spots are not needed to compare a workflow.
