When Fishbrain is worth a look

Fishbrain documents a catch log, personal species/bait/condition statistics, photo species suggestions and per-catch location controls. Its Pro page offers publicly shared catch positions, private waypoints and Garmin depth maps for the US and Canada. It is worth considering when community discovery and underwater structure are central to your planning.

Where Fish Fish fits

Fish Fish provides a browser-based journal with editable voice extraction, manual catches, saved conditions and personal history views. It can queue work on the device, while AI processing needs connectivity. Photo suggestions are rollout- and account-dependent. Check the linked help for current limits; this comparison does not announce planned features.

Questions the documentation does not settle

Fishbrain allows private and water-name-only location choices; using its public catch map does not expose every private catch. Full offline capture, complete-journal export and blank-trip effort treatment were not verified. Fish Fish’s personal catch map does not claim equivalent depth or community coverage.

An undocumented feature is not necessarily absent. Published vendor claims are not independently tested results. Offers, regional availability and account permissions can change; verify the current checkout and relevant policy before choosing.

Try this before moving your journal

Create a sample private catch, inspect its location visibility, and compare the saved details with a public entry. Check actual depth coverage at the waters you fish, then decide whether discovery layers or a spoken personal record is the higher priority.

Keep your originals until you have checked retrieval and any export or recovery path. Use synthetic records for a trial; private trips and exact spots are not needed to compare a workflow.
