Review and correct a voice recap

Turn a spoken fishing recap into a record you have checked, with the original observations kept separate from guesses.

Editorial review: . Review due: .

Record a clear account

Open Record and allow microphone access when prompted. Speak the fishing date, water, species, flies and what you observed. Say “not measured” or “not sure” when appropriate. Speech transcription and AI extraction need a network connection; offline audio waits for processing.

  1. Stop the recording and wait for processing. Do not treat an uploading or processing state as a saved catch.
  2. Review each proposed catch, including dates, sizes, location, fly and attribution.
  3. Edit incorrect fields or remove a proposed catch that did not happen. Check the journal wording against what you said.
  4. Save the reviewed result and open it from Catches to confirm the record.

Correct the meaning, not just the spelling

“We saw three fish” does not mean you caught three fish. “A friend caught a brown” should not be assigned to you. Recording GPS may differ from the fishing water. Resolve those differences in review.

AI can mishear a fly name or infer details you did not give. Keep observations and uncertainty in your own words. A recap with no catches can be saved as an outing after you review its activity and outcome. Choose fished without catches, observed only or did not fish accurately; these outcomes do not all establish fishing effort.

Microphone or processing failure

Use the on-screen microphone help to check browser/device permissions, then try again. Manual catch entry remains an option. Preserve a queued recap and reconnect before retrying; repeated new recordings are not a substitute for checking the pending item.
